There are four courses that I teach here at Ithaca High School;
- Design and Drawing for Production or DDP for short. In this class students learn the elements of engineering design. They learn to use AutoDesk Inventor 5.3, a 3-D solid modeling program, to draw mechanical elements that can be virtually assembled and animated.
- Digital Electronics or DE for short. This class teaches basic electronic and digital electronic knowledge and skills. Students will use electronic simulation software as well as design and build actual electronic circuits.
- Computer Integrated Manufacturing or CIM for short. Students will learn the basics of CNC machining and robotics that are widely used in manufacturing today. They will also use an actual CNC mill and robotic arm to manufacture a wide variety of items through the use of computer design and control software.
- Principles Of Engineering or POE for short. This class involves basic level engineering design processes. Students will design and build machines according to engineering standards and use a variety of logic and testing software and machines as well as all other software used in the previous classes to solve complex engineering problems.
